These paintings deal with identity, the oppressive nature of categorization and the dehumanizing effect of objectification. They comment on the disassociation that results from the specificity of focus inherent in the realms of the medical/analytical and the sexual/pornographic. The dismembered bodies and disembodied parts can be read as evidence of psychological or physical dysfunction, trauma or sexual exploitation. Each painting, as a discreet entity encased in steel, has it’s own layers of meaning. Cumulatively they act also as a metaphor for personal, cultural or social alienation.
